The Minutebots

We are the MinuteBots; a FIRST Robotics team from St. Paul Central High School. Our team was first organized in 2013, with a mission to help students of all backgrounds grow and develop as young engineers, programmers and business people. Every year, through a mix of teamwork, mentorship, problem-solving, and gracious professionalism, we create a new robot to compete against teams from across the world in the FIRST Robotics Competition.

Our team embodies the entire engineering industry experience. Students have the opportunity to work within the programming, business, or build team where they will have the opportunity to learn new skills, and put them to the test. On the Programming team we learn and utilize the programming language Java and work on the software of our robot. On the Build team we experience working with machinery, electronics, pneumatics, and Computer Aided Design (CAD) to bring the bring the robot into reality. On the Business team we learn the value of creating business plans as we speak with local businesses, sponsors, and manage the team's funds. Students can select a team of their preference, but many students participate in many! No matter what team a MinuteBot is in, they will  work side-by-side with and learn from adult mentors who guide them along their journey.

We host and attend a variety of events, such as the state fair, regional FRC competitions (such as in Iowa and 10,000 Lakes), collaborative off-season competitions, events that encourage participation and diversity in STEM, and sometimes even world championships! Being the first team in St. Paul to reach the World Championships gives us a high bar to clear, but every year we aim to push it higher by creating amazing robots!
